BirthdayComm...a committee started by Membership VPs Donald Yip and Alice Cheng of Tran term, Spring 2005. One of their active retention ideas were actually used and completed! They thought that it'd be a special treat for actives to have their birthdays recognized because actives don't feel special often enough compared to pledges. They quickly moved and recruited Peggy Sung as the chair. Peggy in turn recruited some people, such as Drew Mayen, Sophia Chang, Dinh Luong, Joseph Milligan, Clint Stevenson, and Allan Dacanay.

They, indeed, were very creative people. BirthdayComm spawned a bunch of ideas such as...

  • Giving actives personalized, hand made birthday cards that reflected a hobby or personality quirk.
  • Giving actives a small gift, usually some little thing from Wishing Well.
  • Dressing up as different characters in various costumes each week. Some were the Birthday Fairy, sexy green M&M, etc. A good time was to be had when BirthdayComm arrived!
  • To raise money, BirthdayComm decided to Booty Scoop birthday babies if people would pay them. It turned out to be quite a lucrative scheme.

All in all, BirthdayComm was a success and was loved by many.

  • During F2K7, Birthday Comm is was made part of SpiritComm, both being run by the Spirit Chairs duties. Birthday Comm celebrated both active and pledge birthdays during meetings.
