Themed Rising to Serve
Hosted by Region X with the majority of committee members supplied by Section 4.
Iota Phi members ran several parts of nationals.
- Mimi Huang Chaired the workshops committee and planned all the workshops at the Convention.
- Roger Clark Chaired the Floor Services/SAA committee and ran that part of the Convention.
  - Nearly every Iota Phi memeber that attended helped out with one or both of these responsibilies assigned to our chapter.
- Alumna Andrea Isaacs was the head advisor for the convention.
- Alumna Bella Fong was an advisor to the Floor Services/SAA Committee
- Alumna Debbie Sloane was an advisor to the Workshops committee.
Re-elected Wilfred Krenek National President and Minneapolis at the host for the 1998 National Convention.

The hotel was built around a massive atrium that reached up to the top floor, and the choir performed the Toast Song from one of the walkways, filling the atruim with song.
The workshops were held in the convention center a block away across a plaza. Upon hearing about it there were initial complaints, but the delegates warmed up to it once they realized that it was sunny and in the 70's in December.
After Roger's legendary foul mood in Dallas. Any time he yawned someone told him to get some sleep, even though he had discreetly slipped off several times and was well-rested throughout the conference. Primarily in part to his helpful chapter members who would cover for him.

Ernie thought he had accidentally left his luggage at home and spent several days wearing borrowed clothes until someone found his bag in the back of one of the vehicles.

Numerous Jason Kidd sightings since he was traded to Phoenix during the convention and stayed in the same hotel since it was a few blocks from America West Arena
A bunch of Iota Phi brothers (and a couple from Gamma Gamma) went to Las Vegas afterwards, where we were followed constantly by Casino security for looking underage. (This is because a bunch of us WERE underage.)
