Webmaster(s) are individuals appointed by Corresponding Secretaries to maintain the Iota Phi's website, iotaphi.org. Erik Staab's implementation of the website in Spring 2004 has resulted in its becoming a core means for carrying out chapter operations. Since then, the position of Webmaster has become increasingly important, as the chapter relies on them to fix any bugs and implement new tools to make chapter operations more efficient.

In Practice

Beginning of Term

Update the Contacts page and mailing lists with new officers, advisors, and/or webmasters
Around the first meeting of Fall, Webmasters would encourage members to update their phone numbers and addresses on the website, since these may have changed by September due to people moving and graduating. This is important for service project and fellowship chairs so they do not use outdated information when contacting people about events.
As soon as new pledges are inducted, the Webmaster creates website accounts for each of them under a new pledge class.
- Now that pledges themselves create an account at the pledge ritual date by filling out an online form, the Webmaster should instead review all the accounts made to make sure they were entered properly. Check for capitalization, spelling, or other errors.

Once pledges are inducted, the Webmaster should ensure that all pledges are put into an appropriate mailing list as soon as possible.
At the first meeting of every term at which there are pledges, the Webmaster(s) explain how to log into the website and encourage people to update their roster information.

Mid-Term

Have pledges added to family e-mail lists immediately after Family Revealing.
Ensure pledges are properly added to the line viewer after Big Bro Revealing.

End of Term

Move pledges to the active listserv
Add any graduating seniors to the alumni listserv

Changes

Prior to F2K10 term, Webmasters were appointed by Corresponding Secretaries. During the Chandler Term, Fall of 2010, Webmaster Egor Gryanov struck the Amendment 3.3.8.7.: To appoint webmaster(s), from Corresponding Secretary duties. He then added Amendment 3.3.1.12 and all its sub-clauses to President Duties. Amendment 3.3.1.12 and all its sub-clauses granted both the President and Webmaster more influence over selection of a new Webmaster. Specifically, the President will select a Webmaster in the absence of a present or active Webmaster. The amendment also outlines the powers of an active Webmaster in the appointment of a new Webmaster and what constitutes an active Webmaster. These changes in the amendments were basically applied to maintain the quality of work provided by previous Webmasters and ensure that potential Webmasters will meet the qualifications the position expects of them. This also dealt with preventing possible abuse of power through appointing Webmasters with a bias perspective. To see amendments 3.3.1.12 and its sub-clauses in full detail, see the section below.

3.3.1.12. To appoint a webmaster, should no other webmaster be present or active.
3.3.1.12.1. Should there be at least one active webmaster, they will appoint webmaster after an interview conducted by any active webmaster.
3.3.1.12.1.1. An active webmaster is defined as a webmaster that has active or associate status in the chapter.
3.3.1.12.1.2. Any current webmaster could perform and/or be present at an interview.
3.3.1.12.2. A webmaster has no term of expiration on his position, however they may resign from the position.
3.3.1.12.3. A webmaster may be unappointed by a two-thirds vote of the active membership present at a meeting at which there is a quorum.
3.3.1.12.4. A webmaster may continue to perform duties of the webmaster after they have gained alumni status in the chapter, and will be considered an active webmaster as long as they perform the duties.
