The Oak Leaf Pin

The Vigorous Sapling awards are given to pledges who go above and beyond their service requirement by fulfilling at least double the requirement (double hours, double projects). This honor was created by Chris Takemori and Michelle Jaromay, Service Vice Presidents of Hancock term. The SVPs, along with Alice Cheng, thought it'd be funny to make it sound kind of like a pledge version of the Sturdy Oak award, so what would be a good younger sounding version of Sturdy Oak? VIGOROUS SAPLING!

The first recipients of the Vigorous Sampling actually received a small potted plant; the chapter transitioned to using a pin as the Vigorous Sapling became a tradition.

Its active counterpart is the Sturdy Oak.

As of Spring 2015, the original pin of the vigorous sapling has been discontinued and is replaced with a new pin.
