SlaveComm
SlaveComm refers to a bunch of loosely affiliated brothers who do a bunch of scutwork for the chapter that nobody else wants to do, but needs to get done. These individuals don't work for any kind of compensation (of which there is usually none), but instead feel an obligation to help the chapter succeed, as any good brother should. Most prominently, you will see them helping out consistently at every Pledge Retreat by setting things up/taking things down, cooking, cleaning, and planning for every contingency.
The Tragedy of SlaveComm
The tragedy and irony of SlaveComm is that nobody who could legitimately be called a "member" of SlaveComm actually takes pride in the label or uses that name. "SlaveComm" was light-heartedly named by spectators, and most members of the chapter forget that slavery is, in fact, bad. Ideally, more of the chapter will take interest in lightening the burden and volunteer to help out wherever needed, rather than having to be assigned as a chore.
Different Name
There is a name of the people who participate in this which reflects a belief about what an "Active" should be doing for the fraternity.
