History

During the F2K12 Fall Harty Term, Krizia Haag came up with the idea of hosting an Iota Phi Hunger Games fellowship. She and her Membership VP partner Kevin Ta discussed a plan to host the fellowship. They collaborated with Fellowship VPs Cody Harper and Naomi Luong and Finance VPs Dennis Wong and Anna Comande. Two weeks before the event, an active member suggested an idea to make the event a fundraiser by having sponsorships. Spectators were allowed to sponsor the Hunger Games participants. This gave upgraded weapons for participants during the playing of the games. The date was set for December 2nd, during a cold and muddy afternoon. Thus began the 1st ever Iota Phi Hunger Games.

Rules

The chapter decides 6 pledges and 6 actives as tributes to participate in the Iota Phi Hunger Games. They circled up in an arena at Sorrento Park with cardboard weapons laid out in a distance. Those who raised enough sponsorships from spectators were allowed upgraded weapons that were laid out at a closer distance on the Arena. After a countdown, participants were allowed to run to their cardboard weapons of their choosing to use to "kill" opposing members. One hit by the opposing participant with the cardboard weapon meant elimination from the game. Only one winner can be left standing.
