PURPOSE The Section A2 Awards Program recognizes and honors individuals and chapters for their exceptional performance in upholding our fraternity’s cardinal principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service.

PROCEDURE On behalf of their nominees, applicants must submit any completed documents through protocol set by the Section A2 Chair and/or Awards Chair(s) ahead of each annual sectional conference or any special meeting designated to substitute said conference in its absence. Incomplete or incorrect applications, or those submitted outside the active year will not be accepted for evaluation. Criteria for each award are listed under each application. Additional relevant information may be considered for the qualification of the nominee(s) for the award, as determined by the Section A2 Staff. In the absence of sectional representatives for each chapter nominated in any given category, recipients will be determined solely by the provided application.

TERMS & DEFINITIONS Active year — Term(s) of chapter activity and reaffirmation between one annual sectional conference and another designated one year thereafter. Nominee — Candidate selected by their peer(s). Reaffirmed — Activity officially recognized by the National Office.


ELIGIBILITY Individuals and chapters are eligible for nomination for any award specified under GENERAL CRITERIA. Submitting a complete application to the Section A2 Awards Chairs by the deadline fulfills the criteria for nomination. Specified categories are as follows: Chapters

  • Section A2 chapters in good standing are eligible for

the following, awarded at annual sectional conferences: Leadership/Fellowship/Service/Overall - Gold Pan Award Ernie Manfredini Chapter Resilience Award Most-Improved Chapter Award Interchapter Award Man-Mile Award

  • Active members, as reaffirmed by the National Office, are eligible for the following:

Sectional Distinguished Service Key (DSK)* Blake R. Boer Distinguished Leadership Award Chuck Cruz Distinguished Fellowship Award Joel Holmes & Daniel Updegraff Distinguished Service Award The Bright Spot Award* The Ocho Award

  • Alumni:

Alumni members, as reaffirmed by National Office, are eligible for awards granted to Other Individuals, as well as the following: David A. Emery Distinguished Alumni Award

  • Advisors:

Considered a superset of Alumni, Advisors are eligible for awards granted to Alumni or Other Individuals, as well as the following: John W. Jones Excellence in Advising Award

  • Other Individuals:

Individuals including, but not limited to petitioning members or honorary members, are eligible for the following, awarded at annual sectional conferences: The Bright Spot Award Sectional Distinguished Service Key (DSK)
