The award was started Fall 2003, Hancock term.
It is given to active members who attend events at 4 (or more) chapters outside of Iota Phi.
It was originally called the IC Sweetie Award, because when Stephanie Liu first created the award, the pin in mind was the Sweetheart Pin; until she found out that each pin would be about $65 each. It was changed to the Key Pin, but the name is still thrown around sometimes.
