Held December 27-30, 1994 in Dallas, Texas

Attendees

Convention

  • Themed Deep in the Heart of Service
  • Held in the hotel IN the DFW airport
    • As a result a lot of the delgates never got to see Dallas since they were halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth, with limited cheap transportation options.
    • San Antonio was the original site chosen in 1992, but the convention was bumped from their venue when San Antonio got The Blockbuster Bowl.
  • Featured a rather controversial Nationals Bid vote.
    • Oakland, San Jose, and San Diego were all lobbying hard for Nationals.
    • dark horse bid Phoenix won, much to the surprise of nearly everyone (including the host chapter) that knew little about it until arriving in Dallas.
    • Set the stage for Region X to present 1 unified bid rather than 4 competing bids.

Notable Moments

  • Iota Phi rented a van and drove 1800 miles cross county in 36 hours. Leaving Davis at 1:00 am (pacific) on December 26 and arriving at 3:00 p.m. (central) December 27.
    • Roger Clark, being unable to sleep in moving vehicles, went without sleep for close to 60 hours (no sleep from Christmas morning until the night of Dec. 27) and was generally a cranky jerk the rest of the conference. Although it isn't much different from his sacrastic jerk persona he typically has.
  • LOTs of Texans
    • Xi Delta (Texas A&M) and Alpha Rho (University of Texas) got into WAY too many "Gig'em" vs. "Hook'em Horns" moments. They are the 2 largest chapters in the country and it was their home state, so there were a lot of them there, like a hundred from each chapter. Oh, and they are rivals.
