Miscellaneous Ideas (still in development)

  • Adding the duty of auditing the financial report to the duty of Risk Management committee

--In discussion with ashish, he brought up the idea of the new finance Vice-presidents auditing the previous term’s records.

  • Pledge leadership Workshops (PLW) - pledges would give workshops on Iota Phi history, bylaws, and duties of excomm. After PLW, Pledges are required to write a one page paper on what they have learned.
  • At the Chapter leadership workshops (CLW), all pledges are required to attend a workshop on what to do after they cross -- be active!

--Subsidizing alums to encourage their attendance and aide in presentations. Less begging, more good impacting workshops.

  • To improve listening at the time, pledges must close their eyes for during pledge meeting for important matters deemed by the pledge parents.
  • Create tab on the Iota phi website that has weekly reports from the members of excomm. they can be as simple as "we are working on a service project called..." to "we like to thank [insert name]."
  • Pledges have to plan retreat and banquet (stolen from Schroeder class).
  • Banquet will be made more fun by limiting excomm business to inauguration and state of the chapter. Banqet will be made more social by giving people more free time and...

--Entertainment during the dinner portion

  • The pledge class is required to organize a big community clean up event. (similiar to Chandler challenge in terms of being a big aphio event)

--Doesn't have to be clean up. but has to be a service event

  • Alumnus will be invited to pledge retreat. There will also be short activities for alumni to get to know/or share wisdom with pledges.
  • For President, task #1: implement an excomm meeting for SMART Goal. it'll be a time to set goals for the term using the AWESOME acronym.

-- task #2: a day for excomm bonding activities and set everyone on the same page. -- task#3: implement buddy calling system. each excomm member is responsible for calling two-three actives to come out to one event every two weeks. For example, i will call two-three actives, tell them about an upcoming fellowship, and socialize with them at the event. (members of excom bring old actives out to aphio event through this system)

  • Rush event--Alumni Info night: Potential pledges are invited to spend a night with actives and/or Alumni(mostly alumni) who have grown from their experience in Alpha phi Omega. There will be one influential story to begin the night. Then, the pledges are let loose on a speed dating event to allow "potentials" to talk to the alumni. Hopefully, the question will pertain to how Alpha Phi Omega has helped them in their personal goals and/or career.
