Bay to Breakers

Bay to Breakers is one of Iota Phi's (and Section 4's) longest running service projects. Over the years the project has changed however, as different management has changed what volunteer opportunities exist. Until about S2k2, the event was a fundraiser for everyone who attended, however, after that point race volunteers stopped being compensated. Until about S2k4, most of the volunteers worked the race course -- helping out at start or finish lines, or along the way, directing people at intersections. Brothers from mnay chapters volunteered at the event. However, a change in the main sponsor removed the need for much of these volunteers. Starting in S2k4, brothers from Iota Phi began to volunteer at the finish line, helping out with the after race photos. This is still a fundraiser, and you will find various Alumni working this event, such as Flora Choi.
